Mission and Vision
Our mission is to serve abused and neglected children and youth by providing protective shelter and developmentally appropriate care in a nurturing environment.
Our vision is to see that all children in our community receive the support, encouragement and resources needed to ensure their physical well-being, develop strong self-confidence and achieve their full potential.
When children arrive at Pendleton Place, they are often hungry, dirty, sick, or have injuries that require medical treatment. All are emotionally traumatized and in need of special attention to make them feel safe again. Much more than a roof over their heads, Pendleton Place provides the structure, support, and professional guidance these children need to begin the healing process. In our Emergency Care Program, Pendleton Place provides temporary residential care and specialized services to children and teens (girls ages birth - 18 years and boys ages birth - 11 years). Pendleton Place also operates a low-management group home for youth who need a long-term place to call “home”. The Smith House program is for teen girls ages 15 – 21, and is designed to prepare residents for successful independent living after foster care. This is accomplished through individualized life skills assessment and training, therapeutic services and multidisciplinary treatment plans. Smith House offers a structured, home-like environment. The preparation of meals and completion of routine household chores are done with a team approach. Residents experience a sense of safety and stability, while also receiving academic instruction in public schools based upon their educational needs, individual and group sessions, positive outlets for emotions through arts and crafts, field trips and other activities. Smith House provides a home for nine girls. Click here to learn more about the Smith House Program.
