Our mission is to serve abused and neglected children and youth by providing protective shelter and developmentally appropriate care in a nurturing environment.
Groups are Welcome!
Do you have a group that would like to volunteer or help at Pendleton Place? Groups can complete one volunteer activity on-site (at the shelter) before going through the application process. This will allow your group members to have a better understanding of our program and how it could potentially fit into your future activities. Groups can always participate in or sponsor any outings that are off-site (ie. at the park, at the zoo, at your church, etc.) without having to go through the volunteer application process.
Please see a sample of our group opportunities below. If you have questions, or would like to schedule a group project, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Leslie Whiteside at 864-467-3650 or lwhiteside@pendletonplace.org.
*Please, no groups larger than 15 people unless the activity is off-site.*
- Host a Party – Host a party at our place or at your church or business! Sponsor a movie & popcorn night, a pizza or ice cream party, board game night, or any other fun activity.
- Be a Kid Again! – Our children love to do relay races or play all of those fun childhood games you used to play! (Mother May I?, Simon Says, Musical Chairs, etc.). Your group just needs to organize and plan the fun!
- Craft Time – Organize a craft for the children. Your group can participate hands-on to help guide them through the process.
- Cooking 101 – Bring your favorite recipe and host a cooking class for our teens at the emergency shelter or at Smith House.
- Heavy Duty Cleaning- washing windows (inside or outside) or cleaning baseboards and walls
- TLC for our Vehicles – 5 vehicles that always need some care (a bus, a car, a mini-van, and two SUVs).
