Other Ways to Help
There are many ways that you can help Pendleton Place provide for the safety and care of our children. If you are interested in any of the opportunities listed below, please contact our office at (864)467-3650 or email Leslie Whiteside, our Volunteer Coordinator.
Become a Volunteer! Please see our Volunteer Opportunities page to learn more about the special role that volunteers have in our organization.
Invite an Ambassador from Pendleton Place to speak to your group. Presentations are tailored to your specific time frames and meeting formats. We can provide information about Pendleton Place and its role in our community, as well as provide insight about the problem of child abuse and neglect in South Caorlina.
Host or Sponsor Recreation Activities. Activities in the past have included a trip to the zoo, picnic at Fort DeSoto, bowling, skating, a pool party.
Display posters and brochures at your place of work or worship or include agency information in your next newsletter. This will help spread the word out about the mission and activities of Pendleton Place!
Honor Someone Special in Your Life. You can make a gift to Pendleton Place in honor or memorial of someone special. Please provide a list of Honoree's names and addresses along with a gift of $25 or more, and we will send a personalized card to the honoree (or family of the honoree) on your behalf. To make an honor or memorial gift, please email Lauren Scoggins or call 864-467-3650.
Organize a collection drive for needs on our wish list. We are always in need of in-kind goods to help keep our program running. To find out what you can collect that will be most helpful for the children, please call our office at 864-467-3650.
Get your children involved in giving back! Although children under age 18 cannot volunteer in the shelter, there are certainly ways they can help! Some creative ideas we’ve seen:
- At your child’s next birthday, instead of accepting birthday gifts, have them encourage their guests to bring gifts or wish list items for the children at Pendleton Place.
- Have a sleepover! Your child can invite their friends over for a Pajama Party with their favorite movies, games, and popcorn. Entrance fee to the party is a new pair of PJs or movie for a child at Pendleton Place.
- Organize a fundraiser at school. Classes can collect money or wish list items to help the children at Pendleton Place.
- Make a craft to give to the children at Pendleton Place.
